Mercedes-Benz and Binghatti announce residential building

In UAE, Binghatti Properties and German automaker Mercedes-Benz announced a tie-up to build a new branded residence in Dubai. The project, Mercedes-Benz Places in Downtown Dubai will be 341 metres tall and a 65- storey building.

Dubai to get tallest residential clock tower in the world

Dubai is set to get its first as well as the tallest residential clock tower in the world, the building’s developers London Gate, UAE’s premium real estate developer and Franck Muller, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer announced last week. The tower, named Aeternitas, will be 450m tall and located in Dubai Marina.

Abu Dhabi Airport to develop a 35,000 sqm community Mall

Abu Dhabi Airports announced a deal between Abu Dhabi Airport Free Zone (ADAFZ) and Abu Dhabi-based Grand Move, to develop a 35,000-square-metre community mall in the new Al Falah district with an initial project investment of $17.8 million. Abu Dhabi Airports also announced the planned construction of multiple Light Industrial Units (LIUs), currently in the master planning phase and will be built on an area of 200,000 square feet in its Southside Logistics area, adjacent to the Cargo terminal.

Nine Yards Plus Holding announced waterfront residential project

Nine Yards Plus Holding has announced an exclusive partnership with Jacob & Co, the renowned US jeweller and watchmaker, for a waterfront residential project in Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island. Construction is expected to commence in 2024 with completion scheduled in 2027.

Contract Awarded for Oman Cultural Complex Main Building

In Oman, a contract worth US$383 Mn was awarded to a joint venture of Saif Salim Essa al Harasi (SAH) and Turkey-based Sembol Construction (SML) for the main building of the Oman Cultural Complex. The development will include a 1,000-seat auditorium, a 250-seat flexible auditorium; a 20,000 sqm five-storey National Library, an exhibition centre, a cultural centre and a cinema.

Kuwait’s Shortlists Bidders for Major Energy Projects

In Kuwait, the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy (MEWRE) announced the shortlisted bidders for Az-Zour North Phase 2 & 3 IWPP and Al-Khairan Phase 1 IWPP. The shortlisted bidders are:

  • Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TQAQ), A.H Al Sagar & Brothers Co and JERA Co.
  • ACWA Power Company, Gulf Investment Corporation
  • China Power International Holding Limited, Malakoff International Limited, Abdul Aziz Al Ajlan Sons Co,

Midea Egypt begins construction of Manufacturing Complex

In Egypt, Midea Electric Egypt, a subsidiary of Chinese household goods giant Midea Group, has laid the foundation stone for a manufacturing complex in Sadat City. Construction of the complex, estimated to cost $105 million and spread over an area of 220,000 square metres, will begin in the first quarter of 2024.

UN Ambassador promotes urban accessibility at COP28

Michael Haddad, a UN Ambassador for climate change and a walking paraplegic took to the streets of COP28 this week to raise awareness for the design of urban space with greater accessibility for all, especially those with disability – launching the Accessibility In Landscape initiative. The walk was supported by many industry leaders including Landscape Middle East, Red Sea Global, Cracknell, ICON, Nakheel, WTBurton and many more prominent industry professionals.
