Aldar to develop new Al Fanah Community Mall and extend Al Jimi Mall

Aldar Properties is set to build the new 31,000 square meters community mall in the Al Falah community close to Abu Dhabi's International Airport that has just been approved by the Urban Planning Council, according to news reports.
The firm is also going to extend Al Ain's Al Jimi Mall, adding 65 stores to the existing 94-store complex, bringing the total amount of space to 75,000 square meters according to Construction Week Online.
Aldar Properties said the new Al Falah mall will open in 2017 and will contain a supermarket, cinema, family entertainment and a food court.
Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain already attracts around 8m visitors a year. The extension will see a 10-screen cinemaand more retail units added.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, chief development officer of Aldar Properties, said: “Al Falah Mall and Al Jimi Mall will serve the needs of the people of these communities. Both malls will add to our existing retail assets across Abu Dhabi and are part of our strategy to further diversify our investment portfolio.”
The amount of retail space in Abu Dhabi has more than doubled over the past five years, from 662,700 in 2010 to 1.35 million m2 at the end of 2014, according to CBRE. A further 226,000m2 of space is set to be added by the end of 2018.Back to all Construction News
