Valued at $348.5m (AED1.28bn), the four substations include the Canal Garden Station, which will be built to meet the expected growth of demand in the Gardens and Al Barsha area.
The contract for the Canal Garden station, worth $85.7m (AED314.9m), was awarded to Grid Solution SAS and is expected to be completed in February 2020.
Siemens, meanwhile, won an $88m (AED323m) contract to build the Dubai South substation, located within the Dubai World Central project and expected to be delivered in March 2020.
The $82.9m (AED304.5m) contract for the construction of the Dubai North station and the $92.3m (AED338.9m) contract for the Shams station were awarded to Al Fanar Company and ABB, respectively.
DEWA is expecting the Dubai North station to be ready for handover by January 2021, and the Shams station by December 2020, UAE state news agency, WAM, reported.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer of DEWA, said: "DEWA’s initiatives and projects aim to strengthen its competitive position globally, especially in renewable and clean energy, sustainability, and green economy."
DEWA’s strategy reportedly involves the investment of $22.05bn (AED81bn) over the next five years to meet the energy needs of the emirate.
"This will strengthen the UAE’s global competitiveness with a focus on green economy, by launching projects in clean and renewable energy infrastructure," he added.
