NEOM awards three dams contract to Webuild

In Saudi Arabia, Webuild was awarded a US$4.7bn contract to build three dams that will form a 2.8km lake for Neom’s Trojena mountain ski resort. As part of the contract, Webuild will also develop ‘The Bow’, which will extend the surface of the lake beyond the front of the main dam and feature a hotel.

 

City Cool partners with Knowledge City   

The Knowledge Economic City signed a contract through its subsidiary “Makarem Almaarifa Hospitality Ltd” with a consortium of three companies – City Cool, Johnson Controls Arabia (JCA), and ADC Energy Systems to build a chilled water District Cooling plant in Kingdom’s Al-Madinah Al-Munawwrah. The contract involves the construction of a plant with a capacity of 21,000 tons of refrigeration over two phases in the Multaka Almadinah area.

LEOS Developments awards a contract for Weybridge Gardens 

LEOS Developments appointed Transemirates as the main contractor for Weybridge Gardens in Dubailand. Valued at over US$22 Mn and expected to be completed in the first half of 2025, Weybridge Gardens will be home to 187 modern apartments.

ADNOC builds an artificial island in Al Nouf

Abu Dhabi’s National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) Group was awarded a contract worth over US$136 Mn by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to build an artificial island in Al Nouf. The project will see Al Nouf oilfield’s output capacity expand from 160,000 barrels per day to 175,000 barrels per day.

RTA develops innovative transportation systems 

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in the field of developing new and innovative transportation systems as part of the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF). 

The first MoU is related to considering the possibility of developing the Floc Duo Rail system, a double-track system that allows transportation units to move quickly and efficiently. The second MoU is related to considering the possibility of developing a rail bus system, which travels on a bridge equipped with solar panels to generate the electricity needed to operate the system. The MoUs were signed with the UK’s Urban-Mass Company and RAIL BUS Inc., based in the US.

L&T wins a contract to develop a mix-use project

In Oman, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that one of its subsidiaries, Buildings & Factories (B&F) was awarded a major contract to develop a mixed-use project in Muscat. The scope of work includes the construction of a 3-star hotel featuring 80-key hotel rooms, 101 serviced apartments, and a 23-key residential apartment & office block with a common basement in addition to associated works.

Red Sea Global expects the completion of 11 luxury hotels  

Red Sea Global, the developer of The Red Sea and Amaala tourism destinations announced last week that it expects the completion of 11 luxury hotels on Shura Island and the main terminal at Red Sea International Airport by 2025.

The development is progressing on track; last year, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, and St. Regis Red Sea Resort were opened, and Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is preparing to welcome its first guests this year. All 38 stainless steel overwater villas and 35 beach villas have been installed at Shebara Resort, and the resort at Desert Rock remains on track to open later this year. The Red Sea destination has received more than 11,500 passengers since September 2023.
