Drake & Scull wins Saudi US$ 51.4 mn MEP contract

Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI) has announced that its subsidiary Drake & Scull Saudi Arabia has won a US$ 51.4 million (AED 189 million) MEP contract for Al-Dara Hospital and Medical Centre in Riyadh. The contract will start immediately and be completed by January 2016.


Under the terms of the agreement, DSI will undertake complete installation, testing & commissioning, of critical MEP systems like HVAC, plumbing and firefighting systems, water treatment plant, medical gases system, fuel system, building management system & electrical systems for the hospital.

The 107-bed Al-Dara Hospital and Medical Centre, located close to the prestigious King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, will be the city’s largest and technically advanced outpatient centre, spread over an area of 27,500 square meters.

It comprises of a low rise building built on a gross floor area of 101,000 square meters, with an eastern wing of ground floor plus six floors; a western wing of ground floor plus four floors, and a two-storey basement. Carillion Saudi Arabia is the main contractor of this ambitious outpatient facility.

Ahmad Al Naser, managing director of Drake & Scull Engineering, said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is our biggest market in the region where we are currently working on several high profile projects, such as King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre, Jabal Omar, and Lamar Towers. In addition, we have previously worked on landmark developments like the Information Technology Communications Complex and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

The project win also helped to raise the total project awards to date to approximately AED 5.27 billion (US$ 1.4 billion), with new projects in KSA, UAE, Qatar, Algeria, Jordan, India, Romania, Turkey and Egypt according to a company press release.
