According to *ME Construction News report, The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) in cooperation with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that they have awarded a $10 million contract to build the Zayed Dialysis Centre.
The project is part of Dubai’s efforts to develop local humanitarian work, as well as the health department’s commitment to achieving its goals, reported news agency WAM. According to a cooperation agreement signed by the IACAD and the DHA, the former will contribute $8.17 million to the centre’s total construction cost.
Dr Hamad bin Al Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director-General of the IACAD, highlighted the department’s commitment to promoting humanitarian and charity work in Dubai especially for medical and therapeutic projects.
According to the plans announced, 30 per cent of the centre’s capacity (around 40 beds) will be allocated to patients transferred from charitable associations. These associations, Dar Al Ber Society, the Beit Al Khair Society, and the Dubai Charity Association are part of the project to construct the centre and the patients will be treated for free.
Moreover, the centre will include a dialysis unit outside the hospital, a licensed medical facility which will provide services to patients requiring dialysis on a regular basis. The centre will also offer training on how to do dialysis at home, Al Shaibani added.
