Nakheel signs US$ 40.8 mn contract for Boardwalk project at Palm Jumeirah

 Dubai developer Nakheel has signed AED 150 million (US$ 40.8 million) contract for The Boardwalk, a new 11 kilometer waterfront attraction on Palm Jumeirah, it was announced on Sunday.

Contractor Overseas AST Company LLC has been appointed to build The Boardwalk and work is scheduled to begin by the end of this month, with completion in mid-2016.

The Boardwalk will transform Palm Jumeirah's 11km breakwater into a retail destination, which will be accessible from 14 points along the existing sidewalk.

It will be created by building over the rocks of the island's breakwater and will include 30 kiosks, offering refreshments and souvenirs.
