Oman Transport and Communication Ministry floats tender for seventh package of Batinah Expressway project

The Oman Ministry of Transport and Communication has floated the tender for the seventh package of the US$ 2.6 billion Batinah Expressway project. Tender documents will be available to the contractors till August 14, 2014 at a cost of US$ 7,790 and bids will be accepted until September 15, 2014.


The 265 kilometers Batinah expressway is an extension of the 53 kilometers long Muscat Expressway. Parsons International designed the first and second section of the carriageway, which together account for a 180 kilometer section, while Turkey's Bosphorous Technical Consulting Corporation (BOTEK) is providing the consultancy services for the remaining 85 kilometer stretch of the project. On completion, the Batinah Expressway will be an eight-lane road linking Oman's capital, Muscat, to the new Sohar Port and industrial area and on to the UAE border.
