Saudi Arabia has announced plans to undertake US$ 148 million (SAR 557 million) worth of projects in Khamis Mushayt, a city in the south-west of the kingdom, according to news reports in the Arab News.
Prince Mansour bin Miteb, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, said most of the projects will involve roads and parks in various branch municipalities in the province. A number of major municipal projects are being undertaken in the cities and rural areas of the province, the report said.
Commenting on the shortage of qualified contractors in the Kingdom, Prince Miteb said the ministry was studying the possibility of inviting foreign contractors through a merger system which would combine local and international firms.
