Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has revealed plans to construct the first ever polo resort, the St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, in 2017.
The property will be the first ever St. Regis polo resort, and the 136-room hotel will be the centrepiece of the six million square feet equestrian sports centre.
The property will also include 24 luxury St. Regis branded bungalows and various F&B venues. There will also be a further 138 residential villas within the resort, alongside a polo club, a polo academy and a riding school with 500 stables.
The resort, designed by WS Atkins & Partners, will be inspired by Andalusian architecture. It will be built as part of the Dubailand development, and be within 25 minutes car journey from Dubai International Airport. The Dubailand development itself is already home to the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex, Sports City, Motor City and the future expansion of the Falcon City of Wonders urban and commercial development. The huge Nshama Town Square is being built nearby, and the Arabian Ranches, future Dubai Sustainable City, Mudon, and Al Waha/Layan communities are also within easy reach of the new development.
Guests at the hotel will also have access to the polo academy, which will offer programmes such as dressage, riding, and show jumping. The resort will also be home to four world-class polo fields which will reinforce Dubai’s role on the global polo circuit.
Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Europe, Africa, and Middle East president Michael Wale commented: “St. Regis has long been associated with the world of polo, and we are excited to lead this milestone project together with Al Habtoor Group - an important partner for Starwood who shares the St, Regis brand’s passion for ‘the sport of kings’.
“We are also delighted to extend our collaboration with the Al Habtoor family, with whom we are working to open our first St. Regis hotel in Dubai later this year.”
Al Habtoor Group CEO and vice chairman Mohammed Al Habtoor added: “We are delighted to work with Starwood for another landmark project in Dubai. The St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort & Club will be part of a state-of-the-art polo and equestrian community. Every guest of the hotel will be able to watch polo from their rooms, suites and the restaurant terraces. This offers something truly unique.”Back to all Construction News
