Dubai-based Sun Engineering and Contractors has secured a deal to construct the US$ 63 million expansion of the Al Manar Mall in the UAE’s northernmost emirate Ras Al Khaimah.
The mall opened in September 2000 and currently has 120 shops and several anchor tenants. The new project will add space for new fashion brands, restaurants and other services, according to news reports on Construction Week Online.com.
The plans have been designed by Cadiz International, the company behind the Old Town development and Al Hamra Mall – both also in Ras Al Khaimah.
Shankland Cox Ltd., the company responsible for aspects of Yas Island, Zayed University, and the Al Ain Convention Centre, are appointed as lead consultants for this project. Work is expected to start in March and the expansion is expected to open in the third quarter 2016. Sun Engineering and Contractors previous work includes the Signature Tower and Burjside Boulevard Tower in Downtown Dubai, as well as the Sahara Mall expansion in Sharjah.
