One of the major driving factors for MEP industry in the GCC is the execution of major railway projects by Qatar, UAE and KSA such as Qatar National Rail Scheme, Riyadh Light Rail Network, Makkah - Madina Railway Link and Etihad Rail. The organizers of the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022  has announced that the contract for the construction of the first of its tournament stadium will be awarded in 2015.  In a statement released by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), it was stated that construction of the 40,000-seater Al Wakrah Stadium is "moving at a significant pace", with enabling works currently being conducted and completion slated in 2018.[..]

Qatar is insistent that it  would host the 2022 soccer World Cup despite a FIFA Executive Committee member suggesting on Monday that the tournament would have to move because of scorching temperatures. “The only question now is when, not if,” Qatar 2022 communications director Nasser Al Khater said in a statement. “Summer or winter, we will be ready.”[..]
