Plans to build a BD 2 million (US$ 5.27 million) Smurfs' village in Bahrain have been scrapped following two years of delays. It is believed the investor behind the theme park called Mushroom Villaggio, which takes its name from the Smurfs' mushroom-style houses, could now take the project to another Gulf country, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN).[..]

According to news reports in ConstructionWeekOnline.com, Belgium-based contractor Besix Group has added to its Middle East project portfolio with a hat-trick of UAE awards, general manager Philippe Dessoy told Construction Week. Through its wholly-owned local subsidiary Six Construct, Dessoy said Besix had picked up a AED250-300 million (US$ 68 - 81 million) contract to build a LEGOLAND at the Dubai Parks & Resorts project in Jebel Ali that is being developed by Meraas.
