Saudi Rail Company Invited Bids for Landbridge Rail Project

infra The Saudi Railway Company (SRC) has invited prequalification bids for a Landbridge Rail Project's construction supervision consultancy contract according to a report in the Saudi Gazette. The bids have to be submitted by July 22 for The Landbridge project that will involve construction of 1,200 km of railway line linking Red Sea port city of Jeddah with Saudi capital Riyadh, where it would connect with the existing line to Dammam on the Gulf coast. It will also run an extension from Dammam to Jubail Industrial City. The construction supervision consultant would be responsible for verifying contractors’ contractual, safety and quality compliance, as well as quality surveying to verify applications for payment. Project management consultants Fluor Corp and Parsons Brinckerhoff, together with the SAR, are currently developing the contracting strategy and work package structure for the Landbridge project. Italian rail engineering specialist Italferr won a US$ 37 million contract to design the network in August last year. The tenure of the project is expected to last 84 months from the start of the contract period, according to the report.[..]
