Gulf Hotels Group plans two Hotel properties in Dubai

Gulf Hotels Group is planning to set up two five-star hotels in Dubai over the next few years, reported Gulf Daily News. The Group Chairman Farouk Almoayyed has confirmed that that an investment of BD50 million ($132m) has been made for the development of the five-star 'Gulf Hotel Business Bay'. The project, currently in the design stage, is expected to be open by mid 2017. The hotel will feature 230 rooms, three fine-dining restaurants, a variety of function halls and meeting facilities, a spa and fitness centre and other top-class facilities including substantial car parking.[..]

Abu Dhabi GDP rises 7.7%

Abu Dhabi emirate’s GDP at current prices rose by 7.7 percent and reached AED911.6 billion at the end of 2012, compared to AED846.7 billion in 2011, state news agency Wam reported. The Economic Report of Abu Dhabi 2013 issued by the Studies Directorate of the Department of Economic Development has explained this relative growth through low growth rate achieved by the extractive industry activity in 2012, which amounted to about 6.2 percent, compared to 52.8 percent in 2011, due to the limited increases in quantities of oil production, and the limited rise in oil prices in global markets during 2012 compared to 2011.[..]

Dubai SkylineDubai developer Nakheel will restart work on part of one of the three palm-shaped islands that came to symbolise the excesses of the emirate's boom years, the company chairman said, in a sign Dubai is bouncing back from its financial crisis, reported Reuters.

Nakheel will change the manmade island group's name to Deira Island from Palm Deira, chairman Ali Rashid Lootah told reporters on the sidelines of Dubai's property exhibition show Cityscape.[..]
