Technip has been awarded a contract to carry out Front End Engineering Design (FEED) on a major new refinery upgrade in Bahrain which could cost upwards of US$ 5 billion. The work, for Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), will be designed in four packages that will help to increase capacity by almost 100,000 barrels of oil per day, to 360,000.
It will include units aimed at processing "bottom of the barrel" components into high-value products, as well as improving its slate of products and profitability. Technip's design contract is set to complete by the end of 2015 and is worth US$ 55 million, according to news reports in Gulf Daily News.
The firm said that work will be carried out by its operating centre in Rome, Italy, in co-ordination with its Abu Dhabi office. Regional president Marco Villa said: "The award confirms Technip’s leading position as partner of choice to provide high-end services for strategic investments. "This reflects at the same time the importance to follow the client and have keen understanding of its needs, since the very early stage of an initiative."Back to all Construction News
