Kuwait Oil Company awards a contract

Kuwait Oil Company awarded a five-year contract worth US$76.5mn to Combined Group Contracting. The works include the construction of flow lines and associated works in Umm Niqa and South Ratqa in Kuwait.

Kuwait Arab Contractors won a contract

Kuwait Arab Contractors was awarded infrastructure services contract worth US$367mn by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) for the South Sabah Al Ahmad Project.

The scope of work for the 3-year contract includes construction, completion, and maintenance of main road works for the South Sabah Al Ahmad City as well as provision of infrastructure services and setting up of rainwater tanks.

F&M Middle East partners to devlop Salalah Smart City

In Oman, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has appointed a consortium of international consultants to design the master plan of the Salalah Smart City project.

The consortium is led by F&M Middle East and also includes Cundall, MIC-HUB, Cavendish Maxwell, and Skyne. Omani companies HMR Consultants, TRM Engineering Consultants, and Milcris Oman also forms part of the consortium.

OPAZ signed a MoU with Kobe Steel and Mitsui & Co

Oman’s State Authority for Special Economic and Free Zones (OPAZ) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kobe Steel and Mitsui&Co regarding the development of a DRI production project in the special economic zone in Duqm.

The facility will have an annual production capacity of 5 million tons of direct reduction iron (DRI) using the MIDREX Kobe Steel process. A plan for further expansion is being studied.

ACWA Power partners with Saudi water partnership company

In Saudi Arabia, ACWA Power signed a water purchase agreement (WPA) valued at US$677 Mn with the Saudi Water Partnership Co. (SWPC) for the Rabigh 4 Independent Water Plant. The plant will have a capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per day.

The project will involve the development, construction, operation, and ownership of the water desalination plant using reverse osmosis technology. The agreement also involves the development of associated infrastructure and facilities of the plant, including potable water tanks with a capacity of 1,200,000 cubic meters.

Jubail Island awards Jubail Terraces community project

In UAE, Jubail Island announced the award of its new 242-unit Jubail Terraces community in Souk Al Jubail village in Abu Dhabi to Construction General Contracting House Ltd (CGCH).

The contract valued US$89 Mn is expected to be completed by March 2025.

Metalc to build aluminium smelter project

The Egyptian Company for Metal Constructions (Metalco) has announced that it is negotiating with a potential partner to build a 600,000-tonne aluminium smelter project. The project is estimated to cost US$2.7 Bn.
