11 stadium projects announced by KSA to be built by Saudi Aramco

The 11 sports stadium complexes announced recently by a directive from King Abdullah, are to be built by Saudi Aramco under directive from the monarch to Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Al Naimi.

The 45,000-capacity stadiums, announced by King Abdullah in mid-June, will be built in the provinces of Madinah, Al-Qassim, Eastern Province, Asir, Tabuk, Hail, Northern Border Region, Jazan, Najran, Baha and Al-Jouf.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on SaturdaKing Abdullah Sports Cityy (5 June), Al-Naimi said Saudi Aramco has started forming teams for taking initial steps to build these stadiums.Work on the projects follows on from Saudi Aramco’s construction of the 60,000-seater King Abdullah Football Stadium and Sports City in Jeddah which opened in May.

King Abdullah Football Stadium and Sports City will be used as a template by which the stadiums will be built. There are currently 23 large stadiums in different regions of Saudi Arabia, according to SPA.
