According to *Constructionweekonline news report, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) is among the top 10  most influential companies and organisations in the global energy sector, new data from research and intelligence firm Global Data has revealed.

The state-owned oil and gas giant was ranked sixth on Global Data’s list, as reported by UAE state news agency, Wam, and third among the big oil firms – beaten by Exxon Mobil, which came in third with 2017 revenues of $237.1bn, and state-owned China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

The Paris-based independent organisation, International Energy Agency, was ranked top of the Global Data list. The US Energy Information Administration, which publishes data and analyses on oil production, took second position. CNPC was the only Asian firm to appear in the rankings.

Over the past three years Adnoc has been working on its integrated 2030 Strategy to ensure future success and transforming its “businesses business”, as reported by Wam. The scheme is set to map out how the company will deliver smart growth, create value, and increase profitability.

The accolade comes after a busy year for the oil and gas giant. October last year saw the oil and gas company’s delivery arm, Adnoc Offshore, finish installing all ‘supercomplex’ facilities at the Nasr oil field off the coast of the UAE capital.

In November 2018, Spanish firm Tecnicas Reunidas appointed Target Engineering to carry out a $141.8m (AED521m) mechanical and electrical works contract at Adnoc Onshore’s Bu Hasa Integrated Field Development project. The following month saw Adnoc and Spain’s Cepsa award a front-end engineering design (Feed) contract to Técnicas Reunidas to study a petrochemical plant in Ruwais, UAE.
