Oman to issue design and build prequalification tender soon for National Rail scheme

OMAN's minister of transport and communications, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, this week confirmed that a tender for prequalification of contractors for design and build, and systems packages for Oman's national railway project will be issued this month. Al Futaisi said that the systems contractor will act as a subcontractor to the design and build contractor, with both having to submit one combined bid. He says that if the prequalification tender proceeds as expected, he anticipates awarding the 171km Sohar - Buraimi construction contract by the end of the year, and civil works to commence on Oman's first railway project in the first quarter of 2015. The prequalification tender will be valid for four years, with any prequalified contractor able to bid for subsequent railway contracts.[..]

Dubai's Nakheel Properies awarded three contracts worth more than Dhs.41 Million for its Al Furjan and Warsan Village master communities in February 2014. Two of the contracts cover infrastructure design and supervision services for hundreds of third party villa and mixed use plots at a new phase of Al Furjan. Plans in place to have 70 Metro stations in Dubai by 2020

Gulf News reported that plans to extend sections of Dubai Metro are on track with the designs of the expansion on three ends of the network currently being worked out, as told by a Mr. Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, acting CEO of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Rail Agency. The extension will include doubling the length of Green Line, extending the Red Line from both ends including a branch to Red Line from Jebel Ali to the Expo 2020 site as well as building 21 more stations on the entire network.[..]

MAG Group to develop Dhs.800Mn project in Dubai Healthcare City

Dubai based MAG Group announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with Dubai Healthcare City to develop approximately one million square feet mixed-use project in Dubai Healthcare City at an estimated cost of around Dhs.800 million. The development will include two hospitals covering a total of 260,000 square feet, plus an 80,000 square feet clinic; a residential complex of four buildings with combined gross floor area of 430,000 square feet; a hotel apartment with a gross floor area of 80,000 square feet and 100,000 square feet of retail space.
