Oman to tender for new power and desalination projects in SEZAD

Oman's Centralised Utilities Company (CUC) has sent out a tender to consultants for engineering and project management of a combined cycle power plant and seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Duqm Special Economic Zone according to news reports.

CUC intends to design, build, own and operate the facility for the supply of utilities to Oman Oil Company affiliates' investments in the economic zone, according to Construction Week Online news.

The project covers the ownership, development, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a greenfield combined cycle power plant of approximately 300 megawatts of gross power generation capacity based on N+1 configuration as a minimum and a greenfield seawater desalination plant of approximately 8-8.5 million imperial gallons per day of net water production capacity.

The facility is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2018.
