Saudi Arabia's Adel Mekki Contracting inked a deal with Indonesia's PT Wijaya Kriya to formalise a partnership between both firms.
The deal is expected to spur bilateral business activity in both countries.
Wijaya Kriya signed the partnership after receiving approval by Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority to work in the local market.
The deal spans 10 years from the date of signing and is subject to renewal.
The companies were reportedly in talks for a year due to the Indonesian company's requirements in terms of partner selection.
Adil Makki, executive chairman of Adel Mekki Contracting, said he hopes the partnership increases Indonesian activity in the Kingdom.
"The entry of the Indonesian giant PT Wijaya Kriya is expected to contribute to the revitalisation of these industries and bring new expertise [into the Kingdom]," Makki said, according to Constructionweekonline news report.
"This is especially so as companies like Wijaya Kriya have achieved outstanding successes in the construction sector not only in Indonesia but also in international markets."
According to Arab News, Muammar Atawi, chairman of the contractors committee at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said this is the first time that an Indonesian contractor has entered the Kingdom.
“This is proof of the vitality of this market and its continued growth with huge projects despite recession in many international markets.”Back to all Construction News
