The 11th edition of The Big Show - International Exhibition of Building Material, Construction Equipment, Wood Machinery and Interior Furnishings 2014 will begin tomorrow - 17 March 2014, at Oman International Exhibition Centre. The four-day exhibition is being organised by Oman Expo. The opening ceremony will be held under the patronage of Ahmed bin Abdullah al Shuhi, Minister of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources. Oman Railways Company - Pre-qualification commences on the Infrastructure and IT systems

The Oman Railways Company is inviting firms to pre-qualify to build infrastructure and IT systems for the first part of the line, which will run from Al Buraimi to the port of Sohar, according to the official Oman News Agency. The estimated cost of this phase is around US$2.6bn. Those companies who will be pre-qualified in this list will be considered for future stages of the project linking via Muscat to Duq'm and Salalah ports.[..]

Oman to issue design and build prequalification tender soon for National Rail scheme

OMAN's minister of transport and communications, Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, this week confirmed that a tender for prequalification of contractors for design and build, and systems packages for Oman's national railway project will be issued this month. Al Futaisi said that the systems contractor will act as a subcontractor to the design and build contractor, with both having to submit one combined bid. He says that if the prequalification tender proceeds as expected, he anticipates awarding the 171km Sohar - Buraimi construction contract by the end of the year, and civil works to commence on Oman's first railway project in the first quarter of 2015. The prequalification tender will be valid for four years, with any prequalified contractor able to bid for subsequent railway contracts.[..]
