JA Solar plans to invest US$542 Mn

In Oman, JA Solar revealed plans to invest US$542 million to construct a state-of-the-art solar manufacturing facility in Oman. The factory, to be built in the Sohar Port and Freezone, will have an annual capacity of 6 GW of solar cells and 3 GW of PV modules. The investment will include land leasing, facility construction, production equipment, and related infrastructure.

Al Nama Real Estate launches Opal Residence

Al Nama Real Estate launched its latest project Opal Residence in Muscat Hills. The project comprising two underground floors and one ground floor and other seven floors is being developed in an area of 41, 000 square metres and includes 279 residential units and 23 commercial units. Opal Residence also accommodates an overhead pathway of 400 metres in length with the largest swimming pool in Muscat Hills, a dedicated recreational and sports facilities such as a gym, sauna, and relaxation area among other amenities.

WSP announced partners with Abdullah Alrajhi Holding

In Saudi Arabia, WSP announced that it has partnered with Abdullah Alrajhi Holding to provide design competition management and project management services for the pre-construction phase of The Tower, which is expected to become an iconic high-rise, residential mixed-use development in Riyadh. The Tower will have residential, retail, office, hospitality and entertainment spaces, enriching the lives of its residents and the wider community.

Walt Disney opens its first theme park in the Middle East

Walt Disney has announced plans to open its first theme park in the Middle East. The resort, which will be in the United Arab Emirates on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, is a collaboration between Walt Disney and local leisure and entertainment company Miral. This seventh Disney theme park resort will combine Disney’s iconic stories, characters and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture. 

The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral. Disney and its legendary Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight to provide a world-class experience. 

DMCC Selects Ali & Sons for Uptown Dubai Phase 2 Works

DMCC has announced the appointment of Ali & Sons Contracting Company to complete the second phase of Uptown Dubai development. The development will see two new state-of-the-art commercial towers offering a combined 62,000 square metres of Grade A commercial and retail space. The towers will be connected to the Uptown Tower by a new link bridge.

KAHRAMAA signs 4 strategic contracts 

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) announced that it has signed 4 strategic contracts to meet electrical network demand of the country valued at US$851.6 Mn. The Project includes the construction of seven high-voltage substations, in addition to the required underground cables and overhead lines to connect these substations, totaling 212 kilometers in length.

 The contractors appointed were local contractors Elsewedy Cables Qatar Company, Voltage Engineering Ltd. Co., Turkey’s Best and Betash Consortium and South Korea’s Taihan Cable & Solution.
